Structure & Polarity
Cable Structure Description

The MPO/MTP to FC/APC breakout cable features a robust round trunk cable (typically 3.0mm diameter) housing 8 or 12 single-mode fibers. At one end, fibers terminate into a 12-position MPO/MTP female connector with alignment pins (or non-pinned version).
At the opposite end, individual fibers fan out through a protective breakout boot, each terminated with a simplex FC/APC connector. Fanout legs are available in 0.9mm or 2.0mm tight-buffered designs with standard lengths of 0.5m or 1.0m from the boot.
Each FC/APC leg is clearly labeled with sequential numbering (Fiber 1, Fiber 2, … Fiber 8/12) corresponding to the MPO fiber positions. Durable strain relief boots on both MPO and FC ends protect against bend-induced stress. Optional protective dust caps for FC/APC connectors and MPO end-face are included.
Applications

Data Center Migration from FC to MPO Infrastructure
Enables legacy single-mode equipment with FC/APC interfaces to connect to modern high-density MPO/MTP trunk infrastructure, facilitating phased network upgrades without complete equipment replacement.

DWDM and Optical Transport Networks
The APC low-reflection interface makes these cables ideal for connecting DWDM mux/demux units, optical amplifiers, and OTDR test equipment to MPO-based fiber distribution systems in metro and long-haul networks.

Test and Measurement Setups
Provides flexible breakout connections for optical test equipment requiring individual FC/APC ports while integrating with MPO patch panels, ideal for lab environments and field testing scenarios.

Fiber Distribution from MDA/HDA
In structured cabling designs following TIA-942 standards, these cables distribute individual single-mode fiber links from MPO-based Main Distribution Areas (MDA) or Horizontal Distribution Areas (HDA) to equipment racks requiring traditional FC/APC connectivity.
Factory Testing Process
3D Interferometer Endface Inspection
All MPO and FC/APC connector endfaces inspected per IEC 61300-3-35 to verify geometry parameters (radius of curvature, apex offset, fiber height) and ensure surface cleanliness meeting IEC 61300-3-35 Grade A requirements.
Insertion Loss Testing
Each individual fiber link tested at 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths using calibrated test equipment. Results documented with serial number traceability.
Return Loss Verification
FC/APC connectors verified to meet ≥60dB return loss specification using OTDR or optical return loss test sets, ensuring suitability for high-performance applications.
Polarity & Continuity Verification
Automated polarity testing confirms correct fiber mapping from MPO positions to corresponding FC/APC legs, with visual light source verification for rapid fault detection.
