Structure & Polarity Configuration

The MPO/APC 16-fiber cable assembly features a ruggedized round trunk design with tight-buffered multimode fibers encased in a flame-retardant LSZH jacket. Each MPO connector housing is precision-molded with integrated strain relief boot, protecting the fiber array from mechanical stress during installation and operation.
Connector Configuration
The standard configuration includes one MPO/APC female connector with removable metal guide pins (male) and one MPO/APC female connector without pins (female), enabling direct mating between assemblies or with panel-mount adapters.
Polarity Options
This 16-fiber assembly supports multiple polarity types to accommodate various parallel optics architectures:
Type A (Straight-through)
Type A (Straight-through)
Fiber position 1 on Connector A maps to position 1 on Connector B, commonly used with polarity-reversing cassettes or panels
Type B (Reversed/Flipped)
Fiber position 1 on Connector A maps to position 16 on Connector B, ideal for direct switch-to-switch connections in 40G/100G deployments
Type C (Pairs-flipped)
Adjacent fiber pairs are flipped, supporting specific transceiver requirements
APC Angle Orientation
The 8° angled endface is precisely aligned within the MPO ferrule, with a key-up/key-down orientation marker ensuring proper rotational alignment during mating, critical for maintaining the low back reflection performance of APC connections.
Key Benefits of APC Polish:
- Ultra-low back reflection (≥60dB)
- Minimized signal interference
- Improved signal integrity for high-speed applications
- Reduced crosstalk between adjacent fibers
- Enhanced reliability in analog video transmission

Application Scenarios

40G/100G Data Center Spine-Leaf Architecture
Connects QSFP+ and QSFP28 transceiver modules between spine and leaf switches, enabling high-bandwidth east-west traffic with 16-lane parallel optics.

High-Performance Computing (HPC) Clusters
Provides low-latency, high-bandwidth interconnects between compute nodes and storage arrays, supporting InfiniBand EDR/HDR and proprietary HPC fabrics.

Telecommunications Central Office
Links DWDM equipment, OTN switches, and fiber distribution frames in metro and long-haul networks where APC connectors are mandatory to minimize back reflections.

Broadcast and Video Production Facilities
Supports uncompressed 12G-SDI video transmission over fiber using parallel optics, where APC polish prevents reflections that could cause picture artifacts.

Cloud Service Provider Edge Data Centers
Enables scalable structured cabling systems with pre-configured polarity for rapid deployment of compute capacity, reducing installation time from hours to minutes per rack.

Structured Cabling System
Creates a scalable two-tier cabling system with permanent MPO trunks in pathways above the cold aisle, with shorter MPO jumpers and LC patch cords for equipment connections.
Typical Network Topology

In a structured cabling deployment, MPO/APC trunk cables form the horizontal backbone connecting patch panels at the main distribution area (MDA) to zone distribution areas (ZDA) within the data center.
At each endpoint, MPO-to-LC or MPO-to-LC APC cassettes or breakout modules convert the 16-fiber trunk into eight duplex LC ports for equipment connection.
This architecture minimizes cable congestion and simplifies moves-adds-changes, providing a flexible and scalable solution for high-density data center environments.
Factory Quality Assurance
3D Interferometric Endface Inspection
Insertion and Return Loss Testing at 850nm and 1300nm
Mechanical Durability Validation (500-cycle insertion/extraction)
Environmental Conditioning per IEC 61300-2 series
Comprehensive test reports with each assembly
