Product Advantages
Built Around the Requirements of 16-Fiber Parallel Optics
Connector density, channel mapping and optical-loss control are more important than generic "high-speed" claims.
16 Fibers in One Interface
Consolidates sixteen optical fibers into one compact MPO-16/MTP-16 connector for dense switch and transceiver ports.
01
Designed for SR8 Links
Suitable for compatible interfaces using eight transmit and eight receive multimode lanes, including 400GBASE-SR8.
02
Low-Loss Option
Precision multi-fiber termination supports loss-sensitive links containing multiple mated connections.
03
Project Configuration
Gender, polarity, length, jacket, labeling and packaging can be specified to match the deployed topology.
04

Connector Configuration
Male or Female MPO-16 - Match the Mating Interface
Male MPO connectors contain alignment guide pins, while female connectors do not. The required gender depends on the transceiver, adapter and other components in the complete optical channel.
MPO is the generic multi-fiber push-on connector interface. MTP® is a branded MPO-compatible connector implementation. Select the interface according to the project specification rather than treating the terms as different fiber architectures.

Network Application
One MPO-16 Assembly Between Compatible SR8 Interfaces
400GBASE-SR8 uses sixteen multimode fibers: eight transmit and eight receive lanes. MPO-16 provides a compact connector format for this physical architecture.
Some 800G SR8 implementations also use a sixteen-fiber multimode interface. The required cable should always be selected from the optical module MDI and cabling topology-not from Ethernet speed alone.
Applications
Where 16-Fiber MPO/MTP Patch Cords Fit
400GBASE-SR8
High-density multimode equipment interconnection for compatible 400G SR8 transceivers.
Compatible 800G SR8
For next-generation SR8 interfaces that specify sixteen active multimode fibers.
AI & HPC Networks
Compact cabling around bandwidth-intensive GPU and high-performance computing fabrics.
Data Center Patching
Flexible connection between optical equipment, panels and structured cabling components.
Ordering Guide
Specify the Cable Before Production
The fastest way to prevent an MPO mismatch is to provide the complete interface configuration rather than only the data rate.

Quality Control
Inspect the Complete Multi-Fiber Assembly
An MPO assembly is only useful when every channel is mapped correctly and the connector end face is clean.
End-Face Inspection
Check connector end faces before final packing.
01
Fiber Mapping
Verify the required polarity and fiber positions.
02
IL / RL Testing
Measure optical performance to the agreed specification.
03
Identification
Apply length, PN, SN or project labels as required.

Need an MPO-16 Cable for a 400G or 800G Project?
Send DIMI the transceiver model, connector gender, polarity, cable length and quantity so the cable configuration can be confirmed before production.
MPO-16 Patch Cord FAQ
Q: What is a 16 fiber MPO patch cord?
A: It is a factory-terminated cable assembly containing sixteen fibers in one MPO-16 or MTP-16 connector interface. OM4 variants are used for compatible multimode parallel-optics applications.
Q: Is MPO-16 required for every 400G connection?
A: No. 400GBASE-SR8 commonly uses sixteen multimode fibers, while other 400G PMDs may use different fiber counts and connector formats. Match the cable to the transceiver interface.
Q: What is the difference between male and female MPO connectors?
A: Male connectors contain alignment guide pins; female connectors do not. The mating components determine which gender is required.
Q: Should I select standard or low-loss MPO/MTP?
A: Use the complete optical power budget. Low-loss assemblies are particularly useful when the channel contains multiple mated MPO connections.
Q: Can polarity and cable length be customized?
A: Yes. Connector gender, polarity, fiber type, jacket, cable length, labeling and packaging can be configured to the project requirements.
