24F MPO-24 to 12× LC Duplex Structure & Mapping

One MPO-24 connector carries twenty-four fibers through a single high-density interface. The breakout section distributes those fibers into twelve LC duplex branches, with two fibers allocated to each duplex optical path.

This allows a Base-24 MPO connection to terminate directly at LC-based equipment or patching interfaces without an additional MPO-to-LC cassette at the breakout point.

MPO Side: 1× MPO-24 / MTP-24 UPC

Breakout Side: 12× LC Duplex UPC

Total Fiber Count: 24 Fibers

Duplex Channels: 12

24 fiber MPO-24 to 12 LC duplex fiber mapping

Fiber Mapping Must Match the Complete Channel

The twenty-four MPO fiber positions form twelve two-fiber LC duplex channels, but there is no single universal pin-to-LC sequence that should be assumed for every installation.

The required Tx/Rx mapping depends on the selected polarity method, MPO key orientation, gender/pinning, adapters or cassettes in the channel and the equipment interfaces at both ends.

Type B is commonly specified for MPO breakout assemblies, but it should not be selected only because it is common. The final mapping should be confirmed against the end-to-end topology before production.

Recommended RFQ information: MPO gender, required polarity, existing cabling method, LC branch sequence, transceiver or port information and a simple connection topology.

Key Advantages

12 Duplex Links from One MPO-24

Twenty-four fibers are distributed into twelve LC duplex branches through one high-density MPO interface.

Direct MPO-to-LC Connection

Connect a Base-24 MPO distribution point directly to LC duplex endpoints where a fixed harness is more suitable than a cassette.

Controlled Polarity & Mapping

Type B or project-specific mapping can be configured according to the complete optical channel.

Custom Length, Jacket & Labels

Main cable length, fanout-leg length, jacket rating and LC01–LC12 identification can be configured for the rack layout.

Typical Applications

MPO-24 to LC breakout cable in data center

Data Center Distribution

Distribute one 24-fiber MPO connection into twelve LC duplex links near equipment or patching areas.

Base-24 MPO to LC duplex distribution

Network Migration

Retain existing MPO-24 backbone capacity while presenting LC duplex interfaces at the distribution or equipment side.

MPO to LC equipment side breakout cabling

Rack-Level Cabling

Route individually labeled LC duplex branches from one MPO-24 connection to nearby equipment ports inside the rack or row.

FAQ

Ordering and Configuration Questions

Q: What is an MPO-24 to 12× LC duplex breakout cable?

A: It is a 24-fiber harness with one MPO-24 / MTP-24 connector on one side and twelve LC duplex branches on the other. The assembly converts one high-density multi-fiber interface into twelve duplex optical paths.

Q: How should polarity and fiber mapping be specified?

A: The mapping should be selected according to the complete optical channel, including MPO key orientation, gender/pinning, adapters or cassettes and the Tx/Rx arrangement of the connected equipment. Type B is common, but the final mapping should be confirmed before production.

Q: Can cable length and LC fanout-leg length be customized?

A: Yes. Main cable length, fanout-leg length, LC01–LC12 identification, jacket and packaging can be configured according to the rack-routing and project requirements.

Q: When should I use a breakout harness instead of an MPO cassette?

A: A direct MPO-to-LC harness is useful for fixed equipment-side fanout and relatively short rack-level connections. For longer permanent backbone runs or networks that require frequent moves, adds and changes, an MPO trunk with modular cassette distribution may provide easier long-term management.
